Welcome to the HCYA Warriors High School Swim Team webpage. Our team is comprised of HCYA members who are taught at home and participate in a variety of education programs including co-op programs and dual credit programs at local junior colleges and universities.
Founded in 2012, our teams (JV and Varsity) compete in a variety of venues including Texas Interscholastic Swim Coach Association (TISCA) invitational meets, which are the highest level of competition open to home schooled students at the current time. Swimmers have the opportunity to earn All-State honors (private school) as well as high school athletic letters. Our team has had swimmers recruited to both Texas A&M University and the University of Texas, the state’s premier swim programs.
In 2014, our male and female relay teams and individual swimmers earned multiple All-State honors and HCYA had both finalists and individual event champions in the North Texas and Gulf Coast Championship TISCA meets. Warrior Swimming is both competitive and fun with each meet ending in a team social time together at a nearby restaurant.
As a competitive scholastic swim team, students should not commit to our program unless they are serious about practicing, meet participation, and maintaining their academic grades. As HCYA swim team does not practice together, all swimmers will be expected to find a suitable practice venue and practice participation will be verified by the head coach. Additionally, since we are a competitive team participating in TISCA, academic standards will be adhered to and certified by the swimmer’s parent.
Most of our swimmers are members of a USA Swimming competitive year round swim team, although this is not required. Your practice venue is between you and your parents as long as the swimmer is meeting the minimum practice requirements. HCYA and the Warriors do not endorse any practice venue or organization. Swimmers who are not meeting minimum practice standards will not be permitted to represent the team in accordance with team guidelines.
The team will gather for meets and social functions only. After each meet, the team gathers together at a nearby restaurant to enjoy the camaraderie of competing together for the glory of Christ and to enjoy the fellowship of being Warrior swimmers. After completion of the season, our annual awards banquet is held to honor our swimmers.
